The Model 160 / 260 Conductance Sensors accurately measures the conductivity of aqueous solutions. Conductivity
simply measures the ability of a solution to conduct an electric current between two electrodes.
The cell constant defines the volume between the electrodes. Cell constant "K" is directly
proportional to the distance separating the 2 conductive plates and inversely proportional to their
surface area (K = d/a). The Model cell constant is 1.0 for
both models.
Ion collection on either electrode is avoided giving more accurate results of actual conductivity of the
solution by alternating the voltage polarity of the electrodes. The
conductivity probes oscillate
between ± 100mV (square wave) at 1kHz.
The Model 260 with CAT-5 connector works with any of
MicroLab's instruments.
The Model 160 with mini-jack connector is intended
solely for use with 500-series instruments.
